So Much For Monthly Posts… www.michaelmarlitt.com
August 9, 2015
I had intended to update and post to this site monthly but see now that it’s been nearly 3 months since I last communicated. As I mentioned in May, June (and as it happened July and August thus far too) was very busy. Shortly after my last post I bought a new small camera (a Sony mirrorless model) and have been taking some time learning what it’s capable of. I’m far from proficient with it but have posted a few early shots that I’ve liked. They are Garden Grass, Drops on Grass 3, Vine on Wall 1 and Peeling Paint – Garage Door.
I also was fortunate enough to spend a few days in Wallowa County, Oregon, for the Wallowa Festival of Arts in early June. What a gorgeous corner of a gorgeous state! I’ve put up four pieces from that trip – Wallowa Lake Moraine 2, Wallowa Lake Sunset 1, Wallowa Lake 4 and Rangeland. A 17×22 print of Rangeland will be auctioned at the Columbia Land Trust “Wild Splendor” event in September! As you can tell from the numbering of three of these four, there is more still to be worked on from that trip so keep coming back and see if more gets posted!
I just returned from a wonderful wedding in Maine and was again wowed by the beauty of the coast, rivers, inland lakes and landscapes found around every turn in that great state. I lived there for two years some 30+ years ago and it has remained a stunningly beautiful spot. I will keep at work trying to finish some pieces from the trip in the coming weeks.
Lastly, I have been experimenting with several new media and styles. None are anywhere close to ready-to-share but they are offering me some ways to express myself anew. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to gain enough skill in some of these methods to be able to catch the results up with my vision! If so, this will be the place to first see the results.
Thanks again to everyone for your support and encouragement. As ever – share as you like and please contact me with any questions and comments!
